check the lg support site at http://gb.lgservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/mai... you will find the drivers and firmware for all lg cdrw drives

however you should be able to just set the jumpers on the back of your cdrw drive and fit it in the p.c,windows will then install the nessecary drivers and formware by default,other drivers shoulnt be needed

another option would be to use a ''live update'' program which updates the drive at a bios level,its similar to a bios update but not as daunting,the lg live update can be found at http://gb.lgservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/mai...

are you sure you need a driver? have you tried microsoft updates and then looked at what appears on the left hand column under hardware updates? just an idea.... works sometimes
google model No:GCE-84008 + L.G %26 see what results I just did and there are some discussions gin on in some of the forums. I would also look at the LG website and see if there are any drivers - but xp should just auto detect the drive. You may need to open the drive in decice manager %26 then th properties %26 tell it it update the drivers..
You could check the website. If it requires a driver than they should have a downloadable one. If not then simply inform LG about it.
CD Drives are usually plug and play. You shouldn't need a driver unless your PC is from 1990 or so.

If you still have your license key you can borrow another person's XP disc as you pay for the license rather than the disc.

You won't be able to do any repairing, or reinstallation without this disc. If you have the disc you can reformat or use the recovery console to repair it.

DSL uses the phone line. Technically it uses the outside two wires of the four in the phone jack. The inner two are used for phone calls.

While you might be able to physically move your modem, you would need to have the phone line active for the modem to work. Ma Bell might (and probably does) register the modem to a phone number. You could test this by taking your modem to a friend's house, hooking it to their phone line (assuming they don't have DSL) and seeing if it works. If it does, then call Bell and turn on the phone at your rental house. Often they have a low tier plan that costs $15. If the modem does not work, then forget calling bell unless you want to pay for an extra Internet line too.

A wireless router is fine, but you would either pay Sprint for theirs or you might be able to jack into a neighbor's wireless net if they have it unsecured and are nearby.

I'm not a tech but if you have the correct software install it first then if its usb connection plug it in windows xp if thats what you have windows should help you do the rest. Also look at the contents of the software disk or on the manufactures web page and they should have installation procedures for the type of operating system you might have. If you can't find the web page try softpedia.com they have a lot of software and drivers for various models of equipment. If its a printer port install install the software then turn off the computer and hook up the cable to the printer port on the computer and the scanner will have another port for the printer to hook up to, then power up the computer and follow the installation setup program. Since your friend's computer is infected by viruses, then you should boot Wndows XP in Safe Mode. In this way, 32-bit programs are prohibited from execution, including the viruses. From there, try to see if you can scan for viruses using the installed antivirus program. Otherwise, you can try to see if you can disable the RPC service from within Safe Mode.

I bought a nice looking Desktop from Wal-Mart with a 17'' widescreen monitor. In less then 2 weeks the computer had all kids of problems.

Also, the monitor had a green line running vertically through the screen.

I got a warranty repair request in for the computer and screen and they give me the adress to send it to. Then I get a package back from them saying that they're returning the peripherals that they don't need to repair the computer. When I told them that they were suppose to repair the monitor also I was told that it has to be actualy sent to another adddress. I have to pay for the shipping myself!!

Hilariously, when I first called the customer support line I casually asked the woman what kind of computers they use. She says ''HP''!!

Acer has a very good quality record considering how inexpensive a lot of their machines are.

The reason Acer does not use their own PC's is because they are a Personal Computer manufacturer and do not do large corporate servers.

I ordered a gaming computer in late December from an online company that specializes in such. When I received it on Jan. 8th, everything appeared to be fine at first. After I installed some games, they wouldn't play correctly. After about 10 minutes into a game, it would suddenly reboot or freeze up. I tried and tested many things to get it to work.

Eventually, out of frustration, I sent it back under warranty to have it repaired by that same company. Here it is, Jan 31st and I still have not received my computer. I've called several times. The third time (about 10 mins ago), they said it was ''still in repair.'' I asked if they had found the problem yet, and they said, ''I don't know.'' i think you bought you PC from the same place my brother did. exactly the same thing happened to him the copmany he was with had it for nearly 3 months and then sent him a stupid e-mail saying he had but games on it and it caused it to crash. and here's whats stupid. If you don't already have it (and you should if you're doing web development to insure cross-browser compatibility) download and install Mozilla Firefox. Then go get the FireFTP extension at http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

wsftp, from ipswitch is pretty good, been using it for years

also if you have a decent web development environment like dreamweaver that has a pretty good FTP sub system built in, which makes site updating a breeze. If you can get an older version of Dreamweaver I'd definatley reccomend it...... it does a lot of the mundane checking (comparing the published site with the local site and offerign to copy files as requested.
Personally I use Filezilla ( http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ ) which is free and posibly one of the best FTP clients out there.

Can a external hardrive contain a bad file?

my computer hardware (for a macbook) has crashed a lot (4x), so I got an external hardrive. But the crashing started before I got the hardrive. IS it still possible that there is a faulty file on my hardrive that I got after my computer was repaired? THere is some limewire music on there, but limewire has not been downloaded onto my computer since the second crash. How can I save my files, stop these crashes, but still determine what is causing this problem! (MAc store not helping...clearly)

First getting an external hard disk is not a solution to crashes.Crashes occur due to instability.Like something not properly installed and the like.There is a software called freeze i think which can undo most of the problems.and well the external drive may be infected in case you are using windows.If you are using osx,u nidnt worry about it.Limewire can download a lotta crap apart from music, so be beware.And i cant stress this enough,but backup backup backup,burn all important stuff like you pictures,songs etc to dvds or put it on an external drive .Hope it gets fixed.

computers usually have an internal speaker which is used for telling you errors that might arise when turning on your computer. Usually 1 beep means everything is working normal. More than 1 beep means something is missing or wrong (ie. no keyboard plugged in.)

If you are getting a beep while working on your computer, you might want to check your manual to see what it means. It could possibly be that your computer is getting kind of hot, in which case you should buy something to cool it down, such as a case fan. Also, you should have the options in BIOS to set if you want your speakers to beep or not, whether you have errors or not.

It is not because one of your drives is ntfs and the other ones are fat32.
