My Linksys keeps saying that I'm connected when i'm not and/or it cant find an IP address.

I have wireless internet in my house. We use linksys to connect us to what i think is called the router? I have installed this wireless connection into my computer and reinstalled it several times. Two occurances follow:

1. It says i'm connected [with very good signal] but i'm really not connected to the internet.

OR

2. It won't allow me to connect or has ''Limited or No Connectivity''. When i choose to repair, it says it cannot because it fails to ''Renew the IP address'', and i need to contact my ISP.

Right now it has ''Low'' connectivity...I don't why but i'm connected, so i thought i shoudld ask this question before i got kicked off again. PLEASE HELP.

Okay so here's what you need to do:

Go to start, Run, type in cmd (return) to get to a dos prompt.

do ''ipconfig''.

check and make sure that you have an IP address and that your default gateway is set to 192.168.1.1 If it is not, you have a hardcoded default gateway left in your machine and you need to get rid of it so DHCP in your new router can send you the right one.

If you need to delete it it's under network connections, under your wireless card, properties, TCP/IP properties, advanced.
