Unable to boot from XP CD?

After doing a Repair install computer became very bug down, so I was going to reformat the HD. However, I noticed that even when I press any key on the keyboard , it would not boot from the CD. I know that the CD works because I used it recently. and just know I realize that when I logged to the computer and click on the DVR/CD DVR-710 there is not CD content inside. I even tried with different CDs same result.

So now I thik that I need to reinstall the DVr-710 DVD/CD writer but I don't have the drivers. Besides needing the Driver I also want to know if anyone experience a similar problem? How did you resolve it? All I am trying to do is reformat the HD, that's why I need the DVd/CD to work.

You got some choices :

Fortunately Microsft has some free tools that enable you to create a start up disk. These disks will allow to perform a full installation without a bootable CD-ROM.

The windows XP start up disk will automatically load the correct drivers to gain access to o initiate a brand news WIndows XP installation.

It comes in two formats a bootable disket or a bootable CD.

You need to check BIOS and insure that it is set to boot from the CD Rom. You do not need a driver for this.

Good Luck
